About deleting your last available VSatellite¶
Before you delete your very last VSatellite, you should consider the implications carefully.
WARNING!
Deleting the final VSatellite will cause permanent and unrecoverable loss of access to all private key material, even if you have a backup DEK.
Deleting the last VSatellite removes all:
- Services associated with that VSatellite
- Encrypted key material
Can I recover the DEK or services if I delete the final VSatellite?¶
No. If you delete the last remaining VSatellite, the DEK becomes unusable and your encrypted data is unrecoverable.
What should I do if I'm decommissioning VSatellites?¶
Ensure that at least one VSatellite entry remains in the cloud. It does not need to be running but must exist to retain the necessary metadata for recovery.
